welcome

and all about me…in case you are wondering what on earth I might be able to offer to help you at work… the short answer is lots of stuff .

I have worked at Senior Management level in the Charity Sector for 40 years and during that time have acquired various skills including the following (in no particular order)…

change management – this is a biggie in the Voluntary Sector – the only constant is change for us.

visionary leadership – we all need to see where we want to get to and keep that horizon scanning going at all times – don’t make a decision today that limits what you might want to do tomorrow

comms and engagement – without clarity on comms and engagement you can’t bring people with you and without people around you even your best work ain’t worth much

systems and processes – without great systems and processs that pretty much run themselves you can get too bogged down in operational stuff which limits your ability to keep your eye on the horizon and then, when you next look up everyone else will have scooted past you and your agency be out of date and out of touch

standards and audits – all of the factors above come together neatly in this one – the foundation of the work you do as a Chief Officer/Senior Leader – get your standards right with clarity on what you seek to achieve, which quality marks relate to this and how to embed processes day to day so you can always meet those standards and keep those quality marks so funders will be more than happy to give you their money – OK the last bit is a stretch too far, but you can dream can’t you?

networking – this is a key issue as with a good strong network of like minded and not like minded high achievers you can be far better than you could possibly be on your own – so find your community, play your part and develop and enhance your work ..

and for me – the big thing from the pandemic was the revolution in use of digital systems both for delivering our services and, more importantly to me, for running things in house. We discovered that there are so many neat apps, gadgets and gizmos which make life so much easier but as a CEO it can be hard to admit you don’t quite know how they work or how best to use them… I might be able to help with that and, if not , will pretty definitely know someone who will – networks you see.
